Intensive Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area experienced significant strikes overnight. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The assaults come after periods of air raids in the area, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
