Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
