Vinted Members Voice Frustration About Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
